Shiptec is internationally recognised for its modern solutions in shipbuilding and in ship (system) technology. Specialities of the Shiptec innovation team are electric and hybrid energy and propulsion drive systems, commuter ferries configured for specific applications or the digitalisation and networking of all systems on board and on shore (Digital Ship).
An interdisciplinary team made up of naval architects, mechanical engineers, electric engineers and automation engineers develops advanced concepts and solutions for ship technology. As a pioneer of modern energy and drive technologies, we make an important contribution to the gradual changeover to emission-free inland vessels with modern drive technologies.
People often underestimate the complexity involved in shipbuilding. With our many years of experience in project management and the right technical resources, we implement demanding new build and renovation projects within defined framework conditions.
Availability and operational readiness are extremely important for ships in professional operation. We help ensure this availability with our comprehensive service and support options.
The MS Ville de Genève was refurbished by CGN in the spring of 2014. Shiptec was awarded for the steelwork on the bulbous bow and the ‘ducktail’, i.e. the stern extension.
Starting point
This included ordering the steel parts, pre-assembly in the Lucerne shipyard, transport to the CGN shipyard in Lausanne and assembly on site.
Challenges
Due to the very ambitious timeframe, there were less than 30 days between delivery of the steel parts to the Lucerne shipyard and completed assembly on site in the shipyard in Geneva.
