Shiptec innovations
Shiptec is internationally recognised for its modern solutions in shipbuilding and in ship (system) technology. Specialities of the Shiptec innovation team are electric and hybrid energy and propulsion drive systems, commuter ferries configured for specific applications or the digitalisation and networking of all systems on board and on shore (Digital Ship).
Shiptec’s ‘Ship design & engineering’ division is Switzerland’s largest shipbuilding and shipping technology engineering office and has all the skills needed for the development, construction and planning of ships and components. The team of specialists is made up of naval architects, mechanical and electronic engineers, software engineers, designers and electricians. The tasks are analysed and processed in interdisciplinary teams. Marketable solutions are developed with the support of cutting-edge development and engineering software.
Energy and drive systems
Shiptec has extensive experience in the holistic analysis and design of energy and drive systems. Shiptec is the leading engineering firm in Switzerland and the surrounding area when it comes to reducing ‘environmental footprints’ and gradually achieving zero-emission fleets.

Autonomous systems
Shiptec develops systems for autonomous driving. In addition to the obvious potentials, such as cost optimisation due to a reduction in personnel and an increase in safety and reliability, autonomous driving offers the opportunity to further reduce energy consumption in inland shipping.
Digital Ship
Digitisation on ships makes it possible to network the individual on-board systems and entire ships with one another more closely, and of course to connect all systems to the shore-based infrastructure. This enables genuine condition-based and forward-looking maintenance processes. Relevant real-time operating data allows for needs-based operational planning.
Commuter boats
The Shiptec passenger boat is a proven product for public passenger transport on the water. The concept is based on a modular approach that allows for local customisation and quick delivery times. For Shiptec, the design of the energy and drive system is a key factor in keeping maintenance and operating costs low.
Depending on the deployment, a purely electric drive with a battery or fuel cell supply or a hybrid concept in combination with combustion engines is possible. Commuter ferries can carry up to 300 passengers at a maximum speed of 40 km/h.
