Energy and drive systems
Shiptec has been a recognised innovator in modern energy and drive systems for over 10 years.
The MS Saphir, the first barge with an energy and drive system with a series hybrid concept, was put into operation in 2012. Retrofits and new builds with various hybrid or electric drive systems followed. With the knowledge we have built up over the years, we are leaders in the implementation of forward-looking drive solutions.
Electric drive solutions
Shiptec supports professional shipping companies in the rapid transition over to sustainable and emission-free drive solutions. A battery electric drive system is the ideal solution for many applications. We have tried and test solutions, especially in public local transport with ships used by commuters.
We attach great importance to the design and dimensioning of the battery system. We take into account the important influencing factors such as the energy and power requirements and especially the charging options.
With the help of our Power Management System, we are able to not only dynamically monitor and control the loads from the ship’s propulsion system, but also those of larger on-board electrical systems.
Hydrogen (H2) energy and drive solutions
By running the ‘Model study for H2 inland water transport’ HELIOS project, Shiptec created a reliable foundation for the use of hydrogen fuel cells in shipping. Since then, the findings have been further substantiated for transport ships as well as passenger ships. This gives us solutions for the integration of hydrogen storage on the ship as well as the integration of fuel cells. -> Project HELIOS
Our Power Management System enables the optimal balance between battery sources and fuel cells, as well as the appropriate control of drive and on-board electrical system loads.
Multifaceted collaboration
There are diverse benefits to collaborating with Shiptec. On the one hand, it is important to us to use the most advanced technologies, and on the other to provide tried and tested, reliable systems. In order to achieve this, we have an outstanding international network and have our own team of electrical engineers, electricians and technicians on hand for commissioning and support during operation.
